Photo of the Week
365 editions 2010-2017
Photo of the Week featured photographs by Maarten Zeehandelaar on topics he personally enjoys making workwise and/or interests in a broad range of topics from portraiture to landscape, architecture, conceptual and abstract photography. They range in setting and technique from streetphotography to product- and studiophotography. What drives him in photography is the discovery and depiction of the possibilities the medium has to offer and the easthetic of the fleeting and absent. Curiosity and fascination brings him from one topic to another, sometimes driven by 'technical', sometimes 'aesthetic' and 'conceptual' curiosity and often by spontaneous wonders he comes across.

And in that process it is truly valuable to think about what an image/a photograph 'does'. To that end he started collaborating with a few authors to give the images a wordy 'resonance', an echo, if you will, to see what image and text 'sound like', together. Peter-Jan Vermeij and Wibo Kosters were the authors who in turn write their associations/anecdotes/analyses accompanying the weekly photo.
